What APC lost by not fielding candidates in Rivers State

A fact finding mission into the crises that have rocked the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, resulting in the party not fielding candidates revealed that the party made a huge loss by not putting its house in order.

Recall that the Supreme Court, on Tuesday, dismissed all the appeals filed by the Ojukaye Flag-Amachree’s led executive against the ruling of the Rivers State High Court which nullified the congresses and the indirect primaries conducted by the Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi’s faction of the party.

A fact check by theportcitynews reveals that a total number of 32 state house of assembly seats, 13 House of Representatives seats and 3 Senatorial seats were lost to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by the party not contesting.

Recall that the state’s 3 senatorial seats were occupied by the party following the defection of the only PDP Senator, Osinachi Izuogu who represents Rivers West to the APC in September.

Others like Senator Magnus Abe, Andrew Uchendu and other House of Representatives members have been foundational members of the party.
