Bawa takes charge of Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the EFCC As Head of Operation

Abdulrasheed Bawa, a Deputy Chief Detective Superintendent, DCDS, has taken over as the Head of Operations, at the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

A statement by the commission which was made available to theportcitynews stated that Bawa, who assumed duties on January 28, 2019, was until his appointment by the acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, the Head of Operations at the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Office.

Speaking at his formal taking over ceremony, Bawa, charged officers at the zone, to see the task of spearheading the fight against corruption in the zone as a service to the Fatherland.

“We will need to increase sensitization of the communities in the South-South, particularly as part of our efforts to reduce to the barest minimum, cases of oil theft,” he said.

While taking stocks of 476 trucks confiscated by officers and men of the Nigerian Army, 6 Mechanized Division, Port Harcourt for offences bordering on illegal oil bunkering, Bawa hinted that modalities were being worked out to decongest the Army barracks of the trucks and conclude prosecution of cases handed over to the EFCC.

In his parting words, Nnaghe Obono Itam, who handed over to Bawa, called for “more diligence, dedication to duties and sincerity of purpose by all the officers”, and admonished them to give the new head of the zone all the necessary support needed to advance the course of the fight against corruption.
