No fewer than 7 retirees from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad(FSARS) of the Nigerian Police were welcomed by their colleagues in Rivers State.
Addressing the retirees during the reception organized in their honour, the State Commander, ACP Akin Fakorede congratulated the retirees for successful service to their fatherland.
He urged them to engage themselves in other ventures where they will pour out their wealth of experience acquired in their 35 years of active service in the Police.
“On behalf of the Inspector General of Police and the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, I thank you very much for successfully serving your fatherland. It is not easy to serve in the Police for these number of years with your bodies complete. It is a thing of joy, hence this reception to honour you. Please now that you are still strong, find something to do.
“Please, you are still our colleagues, friends and brothers. Our doors remain open for you as long as we live” the Commander said.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Mr Yakubu Auta thanked the Commander for the reception and assured him and the entire FSARS that they will not let them down.
He described police job as one of the best jobs globally. He urged those who are still in service to take their job seriously.
In a chat with Theportcitynews, one of the retirees, Okolo Okam Edodi, said he will remain grateful to FSARS and the Nigerian Police at large, for giving him the opportunity to serve in various capacities in the Force while in active service, adding that the claims from some quarters that SARS is a political tool are baseless. Mr Okolo dismissed it and asked the members of the public to disregard it.
According to him, the allegation was orchestrated by criminals to discredit SARS so that they can perpetuate their evil plans. Edodi stressed that criminals cannot understand the strategic operations of SARS and without SARS the public will not be comfortable in their various communities.
“The criminals also know that all their efforts are to blackmail SARS” he stressed.
