The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Princewill Chike, has denied claims that those who survived the Friday’s building collapse in Port Harcourt are not being given proper medical care.
A total of 39 persons have so far been rescued from the collapsed building with about six persons confirmed dead according to government sources.
He told journalists that some of the victims left the hospital without notifying the hospital management.
According to him “The claims that survivors were denied medical attention are false. Even as we speak, some of them are still at the hospital receiving medical care.
“The problem, however, is that some of them left the hospital without notifying the hospital management but none was denied the needed medical attention.
Theportcitynews reports that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday, ordered the arrest of the owner of the hotel and the contractor handling the building.
Rescue efforts are still ongoing, although at a slower pace due to the lack of necessary heavy duty equipment.
