Nigerians Need Professional Training To Take Over SeaFarers’ Activities Across The World – CEO

The chief executive officer and managing director of Charkin Maritime and Offshore Safety Centre, Ozuoba Port Harcourt, Sir Charles Wami has reiterated the centre’s determination to provide Nigerians with the needed professional training to take over seafarers activities across the World.

The CEO/MD stated this at the flag off of a one-year mandatory vessels training on foreign trips for twenty marine cadets.

He said the Charkin Maritime Offshore and Safety Centre is there to provide requisite professional training opportunities for Nigerians to acquire the needed competence in seamanship Activities to enable them handle medium and large vessels across the continent.

Sir Wami also disclosed that the flag-off will go the extra mile to ensure that the aim and the dream of the centre come through by projecting both men and women who are marine engineers.

The CEO at the same time admonished the cadets not to be afraid of who they will meet at the training institution abroad but must be bold and focused as good ambassadors of the centre in character and learning to minimize foreign domination in the industry they found themselves in.

On his part, the executive secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Simbi Wabote represented by the general manager in Capacity Building Division of the Board commended Charkin Maritime Offshore and Safety Centre for its capacity to deliver professional training across the Nation.

Also, the provost of Charkin Maritime Academy, Dr Uchenna Okerie noted that the academy has qualified instructors and learning facilities for marine training and advised the cadets to be committed and be the pride of the academy.
