Breaking: Etche APC State Constituency II Primary Election Turns Bloody (Pictures)

It was a huge set back for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Etche Constituency 2 as irregularities characterised the direct primary election process on Friday.

Theportcitynews gathered that the election which had two major contestants, Hon. Samuel Iroegbu and Hon. Emma Nwaobilor turned bloody after members spotted irregularities during the process.

However, the returning electoral officer, Mr Elijah postponed the election to a different date that will be communicated to the parties involved.

TPCN’s effort to speak to the factional state party chairman, Prince Peter Odike, proved abortive.

Eyewitness reports say some hoodlums stormed Wards 6 and 3 and the venue of the election, harassed and beat up those loyal to another contestant.

In a swift reaction, some supporters resisted the attack which resulted in a free for all fight that left several party members injured.

It was also learnt that security officers took over the matter and fostered calm and decorum to the environment.

As at the time of filing this report, the election has been postponed.
