Ikpeazu flags off three-day training workshop for residents

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has flagged off a three day step-down training workshop for Local Government Cash Transfer Facilitators for the National Cash Transfer Programme in Abia State.

Governor Ikpeazu assured that he would continue to attract social investment programmes, adding that his administration is very much interested in uplifting the poor, vulnerable and downtrodden in the State.

He urged the beneficiaries to see the programme as a ladder to climb up from poverty and utilize it, not minding the meagre cash involved as well as urged the staff to be committed in the programme.

In his speech, an official of the National Cash Transfer Programme, Mr. Emma Ibang extolled Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for providing all logistics needed to kick start the social investment programme.

He disclosed that Abia is the only State where all the social investment programmes are functional and said that it’s a great achievement by the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

Also speaking, the State Focal Person, Mr. Chinenye Nwogu said the Cash Transfer is the 4th social investment programme the Governor has attracted to the State and thanked the Governor for exposing Abia people to such programmes.

Earlier, the Head of Unit, Abia Cash Transfer, Mr. Okezie Nwoke said the programme which is specifically designed to uplift the vulnerable would be paying five thousand naira each for the poor. He informed that the pilot phase is taking place in six LGAs in the State.
