Rivers State Government to renovate Songhai Farm

The Rivers State Government has initiated plans to renovate the deserted Songhai Farms located in the State through direct government policy initiatives.

Centre Manager of the Rivers Government-owned Songhai Farms, Tammy Jaja, who made this known in Portharcourt, noted that the farm located in Bunu Tai Local Government areas of the State was designed for commercial farming and agricultural tourism by the former Governor of the State, Chibuike Amaechi.

The manager said the large farm activities had declined over the years and the State government is already conversing with private investors on commercialising the farm.

Jaja who hoped the process would be concluded quickly, noted that production at the farm is very low and is hoping that the ongoing process will inject life into the farm by encouraging full operation.”

“The moment the new administrators take over, you can be sure that we will be back to work in full swing.’’ He added
