Rivers United will face Sporting Lagos in a crucial Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 12 fixture on Saturday, November 7, as they look to strengthen their position in the race for the top spot.
The match will take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Nigerian time.
Finidi George’s side head into the encounter after playing out a 1-1 draw against defending champions Enugu Rangers on November 1. Although the result extended their competitive run, Rivers United will be keen to return to winning ways and avoid dropping further points.
The Pride of Rivers have shown defensive discipline this season, with goalkeeper Clinton Andy playing an important role in their performances. However, improving their attacking efficiency could prove decisive against a Sporting Lagos side expected to make the most of home advantage.
Sporting Lagos will be looking to frustrate the visitors and secure a positive result in front of their supporters. The hosts will also be seeking valuable points to improve their position as the league campaign progresses.
For Rivers United, a victory would provide a significant boost to their title ambitions and help them maintain pressure on their rivals at the top of the table.
Finidi’s men will therefore need to combine defensive organisation with greater attacking precision if they are to leave Lagos with all three points.
