The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Council, Hon. Charles Wobodo, has announced plans to provide residential accommodation for health workers at the Omuanwa Primary Health Centre.
Wobodo disclosed this during an inspection of the facility, as part of efforts by his administration to improve primary healthcare services and infrastructure across the local government area.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Amb. Wali Chiwendu, the chairman said the proposed quarters would accommodate the resident doctor, nurses and other medical personnel working at the health centre.
He explained that providing accommodation within or close to the facility would improve the working conditions of health workers and ensure more effective healthcare services for residents of Omuanwa and surrounding communities.
Wobodo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upgrading primary healthcare centres across Ikwerre Local Government, with attention to infrastructure, essential facilities and the welfare of medical personnel.
He described functional and accessible primary healthcare as an important part of his administration’s development plans, noting that residents should have access to quality healthcare within their communities.
The chairman also assured that other primary healthcare facilities across the local government would receive attention as part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
