The Rivers State Ministry of Education says public and private schools across the state will undergo quality assurance evaluation for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The exercise will be conducted by the State Education Quality Assurance Services, SEQAS, in collaboration with the Task Force on Closure of Schools.
According to a public interest notice issued by the ministry, the evaluation will assess learners’ outcomes, quality of educational services, and the effectiveness of school leadership and management.

The exercise will also examine the annual renewal of school registration payments and the overall performance of each institution.
The ministry has directed all public and private schools to provide evaluators with full access to their facilities during the exercise.
It warned that schools that prevent or deny evaluators access will face appropriate sanctions.
The ministry says the evaluation is aimed at strengthening education standards and ensuring schools meet required quality benchmarks.
Schools seeking further information are advised to contact the Director of State Education Quality Assurance Services, Dr. Chinedu Wordu, at the Rivers State Ministry of Education office located within Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokwuta.
The notice was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Mina Tele Ikuru, on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, and dated September 10, 2026.
