Rivers United Football Club has presented 50 replica jerseys to the Akwa Ibom State Football Association ahead of Sunday’s CAF Champions League first-round second-leg encounter against San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire.
The jerseys were presented on Thursday to the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, by a delegation from Rivers United at his office in Uyo.
The Commissioner subsequently handed the jerseys over to the Akwa Ibom State Football Association for distribution to supporters ahead of the crucial fixture.
The Rivers United delegation was led by the club’s Sole Administrator, Barrister Christopher Green, and General Manager, Mr Okey Kpaloku.

The club also called on football enthusiasts across Akwa Ibom State to come out in large numbers and rally behind the Nigerian representatives when they face San Pedro at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Rivers United will be aiming to capitalise on home advantage after holding San Pedro to a valuable 1-1 draw in the first leg in Côte d’Ivoire.
The club had earlier announced that the first 50 supporters to arrive at the stadium on Sunday would receive Rivers United replica jerseys. The jerseys have now been officially handed over to the Akwa Ibom State Football Association ahead of the match-day giveaway.
With the tie finely poised following the first-leg result, Rivers United will be looking to secure victory on home soil and advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
