Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is fixing four damaged towers that were vandalised on the Afam, IPP and Elelenwo 132kV lines in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The towers, called T50, T51, T52 and T53, were found by TCN linesmen during a walk‑through. TCN says that vandals removed support beams from the towers, which could endanger the power lines and the electricity that people rely on in that area.
After the discovery, TCN acted fast. TCN hired a contractor and sent it to the site to start the repair work right away.
The Port Harcourt Transmission Region gave the contractor the official keys recently, and the day marked the start of the rebuilding.

At the handover ceremony, TCN Head of Lines, Azur Lucky, spoke about the need for teamwork between TCN and the local communities.
Azur Lucky asked residents to watch for behaviour and to help stop vandalism. He warned that damaged towers could break the flow of electricity and pose serious dangers along that part of the line.
TCN knows how serious the problem is. TCN will do everything it can to finish the repair on schedule. TCN also asks the community to stay alert and to support security teams and TCN workers in protecting the power network from vandalism.
TCN believes that ongoing community help is essential for keeping our national power grid safe and for keeping electricity running reliably.
