Construction has commenced on three new concrete internal roads in Ogbogbo Town, Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, as part of efforts by Hon. Linda Somiari-Stewart to deepen constituency development.
Somiari-Stewart, DSSRS, Deputy Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly and member representing Okrika State Constituency, is sponsoring the construction of Kwani Road, Kiki Road and School Road in the community.
Ogbogbo Town, like many coastal communities, has faced persistent challenges with muddy internal roads, particularly during the rainy season, making movement difficult for residents, traders, students and other road users.
The concrete road projects are expected to provide more durable access routes, improve internal connectivity and support social and economic activities within the community.
Reacting to the development, Chairman of the Ogbogbo Community Development Committee, Comr. Jonathan Zachariah Samuel, described the intervention as timely and beneficial to residents.
Samuel thanked Somiari-Stewart for responding to what he described as a pressing infrastructural need in the community, while acknowledging her continued efforts to attract development to communities across Okrika State Constituency.
The project is also being presented as part of Somiari-Stewart’s approach to representation, which extends beyond legislative duties to include community engagement, identification of priority needs, and delivery of projects aimed at improving residents’ daily lives.
As construction progresses, residents have expressed optimism that the new concrete roads will provide lasting relief and contribute to the development of Ogbogbo Town.
The three projects—Kwani Road, Kiki Road and School Road—are expected to give the community a significant infrastructural facelift while improving mobility and connectivity.
