Fulham had the first clear opportunity when Josh King raced onto Alex Iwobi’s perfectly weighted through ball, but the forward fired over the crossbar. The chance was one of the few highlights of a largely uneventful first half, with both goalkeepers enjoying a quiet afternoon.
The match remained cagey after the break, prompting both managers to make double substitutions in an attempt to inject more energy into the contest.
