Bayelsa Medical University Teaching Hospital (BMUTH) has gotten a new Chief Medical Director (CMD) following the appointment of Dr. Boboye Ifie as the pioneer CMD of the facility.
This development was made known after Governor Douye Diri announced the approval on Tuesday.
The Consultant Paediatrician and Fellow of the West African College of Physicians will hold the post of CMD for one five-year period only.
Prior to her recent appointment, Dr. Boboye was the Director of Medical and Dental Services at Bayelsa State Hospitals Management Board. She was also the Consultant at Bayelsa Specialist Hospital, showing leadership, professionalism, and dedication to providing high-quality medical care.
The newly appointed CMD has conducted an assessment visit to teaching hospitals in the South-South states of Nigeria recently.

Dr. Boboye has several years of experience in the practice of General Medicine and Paediatrics and has made contributions to clinical practice and the field of medical teaching.
Aside from her clinical duties, she is a lecturer and mentor to undergraduates and postgraduates, indicating her passion for academic excellence and professionalism.
She has also been a member of many professional associations and of her own alumni association, which is the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) among others.
This latest move is a new chapter in the growth of the Bayelsa Medical University Teaching Hospital as she takes on the mantle of leading the operations of the hospital in all its medical and academic endeavors.
This move will enhance the role of the hospital in healthcare, medical education, and postgraduate education in Bayelsa State.
