The Nigerian Navy has recovered about 93,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil during an operation in Allison Community, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The operation was conducted on August 20 by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny following intelligence on suspected crude oil theft activities in the area.
According to the Navy, the personnel discovered 10 dugout pits, five of which contained suspected stolen crude oil. Hoses believed to have been used to transfer the product were also found at the site.
The Navy said the recovered crude oil, pits and other materials were handled in accordance with established operational procedures.

It added that the operation disrupted suspected illegal bunkering activities in the community.
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crude oil theft and other forms of maritime criminality in the Niger Delta, saying Operation DELTA SENTINEL would continue to target illegal bunkering networks and safeguard Nigeria’s oil resources.
