Joško Gvardiol scored a dramatic 91st-minute winner as Enzo Maresca began his Manchester City reign with a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, extending City’s winning run against the Cherries at the Etihad to 10 consecutive league matches.
City started strongly, with Rico Lewis denied at close range by Đorđe Petrović before Erling Haaland narrowly missed Nico O’Reilly’s delivery. Bournemouth then grew into the game and took the lead when Rayan set up Evanilson, whose first-time cross was converted by Marcus Tavernier.
Despite dominating possession, City struggled to create clear chances before half-time, with Haaland’s header comfortably saved. Bournemouth remained dangerous, as Tavernier went close and Justin Kluivert forced a save from Gianluigi Donnarumma.

City increased the pressure after the restart, but Haaland continued to struggle in front of goal. Marc Guéhi then missed a free header from close range before making amends six minutes from time, heading Bournemouth into a 1-1 draw.
The game appeared destined for a share of the points until Gvardiol struck in the first minute of stoppage time, reacting quickest to a loose ball and finishing past Petrović after a VAR check confirmed he was onside.
The defeat ended Bournemouth’s 18-match unbeaten league run, while Maresca became the latest manager to win his first Premier League game in charge of City at the Etihad.
