The Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Agala, has called for stronger collaboration between government and community stakeholders to support healthcare interventions and improve access to quality healthcare services across Rivers State.
Agala made the call recently at the grand opening ceremony of Garden City Clinic in Port Harcourt.

She said the Federal and Rivers State Governments, through counterpart funding, had made free healthcare available to vulnerable populations in the state.
According to her, members of the non-vulnerable population can access quality healthcare services under the RIVCHPP scheme by paying a minimum annual premium of N25,000, with coverage including surgeries and other healthcare services without out-of-pocket payments at the point of care.

Agala noted that the state’s social health insurance programme would achieve greater impact if community leaders and other stakeholders worked together to mobilise residents for massive enrolment.
She urged community stakeholders to take ownership of healthcare initiatives in their respective communities and sustain partnerships with government agencies to promote healthier communities.
The Executive Secretary also emphasised the importance of expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare through collective efforts involving government, healthcare providers and communities.
The event was attended by medical practitioners, community leaders, staff of the clinic and other distinguished guests.
