AS Monaco are negotiating with Paul Pogba over a possible mutual termination of his contract, potentially bringing the midfielder’s brief spell at the Ligue 1 club to an early end.
Pogba joined Monaco last summer on a two-year deal after serving an 18-month doping suspension. However, injuries limited him to only a handful of appearances during his first season.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Monaco have informed Pogba’s representatives of their intention to end the contract before September 1, allowing the 33-year-old to find another club before the transfer window closes.
Pogba’s prospects have reportedly declined further following the arrival of new manager Filipe Luis, who is reshaping Monaco’s midfield.

The former Manchester United and Juventus star is currently recovering from injury, with the final decision on the proposed termination resting with him.
Pogba was initially handed a four-year ban after testing positive for DHEA, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced the suspension to 18 months. He returned to competitive football in March 2025.
The 2018 World Cup winner has maintained that the positive test resulted from a contaminated supplement he unknowingly consumed.
If the two parties reach an agreement, Pogba’s Monaco career will end after just one season, leaving the French midfielder searching for another opportunity to revive his career.
