A suspected kidnap group has been broken up by the Rivers State Police Command after they had arrested four suspects and rescued a 35-year-old woman who had been kidnapped from her shop in Aluu axis, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area (LGA).
The victim’s husband, Mr. Ikechukwu says that his wife was kidnapped by some armed men on 11 July, 2026 when she was attending to customers in her shop.
On receiving information about the kidnapping from the lady’s husband, Mrs. Ikechukwu, an officer from the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) was directed by Commissioner of Police (CP) Olugbenga Adepoju to begin an investigation.

As a result of the operation, the four suspects including Owhor Chinedu, 42 years from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (ONELGA), Isioto Waribok, 30 years from Andoni, Maduabuchi Emeka, 34 years from ONELGA, and Joe Karachi, 28 years from ONELGA, were apprehended.
Police retrieved the white mini-bus which the suspects allegedly used in kidnapping the lady.
From the Command spokesperson, Blessing Kaborlo, it emerged that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had admitted their respective involvements in the crime.
Meanwhile the Command was still trying to apprehend two other persons who were members of the syndicate on the loose and retrieve the guns used during the crime.
The Commissioner of Police restated the determination of the Command to ensure that the Rivers State is free of kidnappers and violent offenders by urging people to offer relevant information to the police.
He stated that relevant information would be kept highly confidential, while he restated the Command’s readiness to protect the lives and properties of members of the public.
