Prof. Chituru Orluwene, Chief Medical Director of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has commended the Federal and Rivers States Governments for their efforts to improve healthcare service delivery through investments and reformations.
This came from Prof. Orluwene while opening the 66th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Rivers State Branch in Port Harcourt, according to Kem Daniel-Elebiga, the Head of Media and Publicity on Wednesday.
According to him, the two levels of government have carried out reforms in some very important areas of public health and undertaken a process of restructuring which will eventually benefit both the doctors and their clients in the long run due to improved pay and facilities.

The CMD of UPTH has termed the theme of the conference, “Medical Practice in Nigeria: The Past, Present and Quo Vadis,” as very appropriate since it offers the chance for the medical practitioners in different subspecialties to reflect on their past experience and present realities.
According to him, the meeting will give the participants the chance to engage in brainstorming, share ideas, and come up with solutions to the problems facing medicine and the profession.
The two-day seminar brought together academics, policy makers, and administrators from the field of medicine, culminating in the election of the new executive committee of the NMA Rivers State Branch.
