The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has commenced a capacity-building programme for its staff and team members aimed at eliminating fraud, waste and abuse in the management of the agency’s resources.
Declaring the training open in Port Harcourt on Friday, Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, said the initiative was designed to equip staff with the skills needed to detect, prevent and curb fraud, waste and abuse across all departments.
Dr. Agala stressed that effective management of time, funds, materials and other resources was critical to improving service delivery and ensuring that more Rivers residents benefit from affordable healthcare.
She urged participants to take full advantage of the training by paying close attention and applying the knowledge gained in their daily responsibilities.

According to the RIVCHPP boss, the agency invested in the training to improve operational efficiency, reduce resource leakages and strengthen its capacity to provide quality and affordable healthcare services to residents of the state.
Facilitating the session, RIVCHPP Board member Dr. Mangibo Daniel noted that organisations lose substantial resources annually to fraud, waste and abuse, describing the training as both timely and necessary.
He said the programme was specifically designed to equip participants with practical skills to identify and prevent fraudulent practices, eliminate waste and block financial leakages within the organisation.
Dr. Daniel added that, as a social health insurance agency established to meet the healthcare needs of Rivers residents, every resource saved through prudent management would be redirected to expand access to RIVCHPP’s healthcare packages.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, Pharm. Bona Vopno expressed appreciation to the management for organising the training and pledged that participants would put the knowledge acquired into practice to improve the agency’s service delivery.
