Dangote Cement Plc has heightened its commitment to road safety and transport management by implementing solutions driven by artificial intelligence, automated inspection technologies, and advanced telematics systems, all aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing road traffic accidents.
The organization stated that these expanded programs are intended to bolster performance, governance, accountability, and adherence to road safety standards throughout its transport operations.
In a statement released by the Branding and Communications Department and endorsed by its spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Cement indicated that the initiatives encompass critical operational areas, such as performance monitoring, governance standards, driver competency development, journey management protocols, technology-enabled safety systems, and routine recertification processes.
Furthermore, the company noted that the program includes compulsory drug and alcohol testing, strategic partnerships, commitments to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, sustainability initiatives, and community impact programs.
As per the statement, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) recently praised Dangote Cement for its proactive safety measures, which have led to a decrease in road traffic accidents involving its trucks.
Commenting on the reforms, Murilo Silva, Head of Transport at Dangote Cement Plc, stated that the company has made significant advancements in its transport management systems through the adoption of automated inspection technologies and artificial intelligence solutions.
”We have enhanced our transport management systems through the implementation of automated inspection technologies and artificial intelligence-driven solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency and road safety,” Silva remarked.
He elaborated that the company has also rolled out improved GPS and telematics systems that facilitate real-time monitoring of driver behavior during transit, thereby reinforcing oversight.
He disclosed that during the initial quarters of 2025 and 2026, Dangote Cement’s Obajana operations experienced significant enhancements in safety compliance metrics.
Drug and alcohol testing surged by 245.2 percent, pre-trip vehicle inspections increased by 489.1 percent, and driver training programs expanded by 128.4 percent.
Additionally, commending the company’s initiatives, FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, lauded Dangote Cement for establishing new standards in road safety management and encouraged the continuation of these reforms.
The Corps Marshal revealed that road accidents involving Dangote Cement trucks decreased by 56 percent from 2025 to 2026, while fatalities fell by 36 percent and injuries were reduced by 52 percent.
