Two great nations who did not make it to the FIFA World Cup will lock Horns in a friendly encounter on Wednesday at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw, as Poland will be hosting Nigeria.
Poland, also known as the White-Reds did not make it to the World Cup after losing to Sweden in the UEFA qualifying play-offs, and the Super Eagles on the other hand also missed out after losing to DR Congo in a penalty shootout in the CAF decider November.
Match preview
Poland lost to Sweden 3-2 in the play-offs even though they came back from a goal down twice, they are still feeling sad about that loss. Poland then lost 2-0 to Ukraine on Sunday, they are struggling with their defense as they have not kept a sheet in five games.
The coach of Poland Jan Urban has work to do to fix their defense. The Polish national team might lose three games in a row for the time in over three years.
But Poland can feel better because their loss to Ukraine was their first friendly loss since 2018, they have a test ahead against Nigeria, who are in better form and ranked higher in the FIFA World Rankings.
Nigeria is currently 26th, in the world and has not lost in five games, after defeating Egypt in a shootout to get a place in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
History has it that the Super Eagles of Nigeria have beaten Poland before, but they have not been doing well against European teams lately. They have only won one game in eight against teams since beating Poland 1-0 in 2018.
