Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the “Rivers First” agenda as he celebrated the third anniversary of his government on Friday.
In a goodwill message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor said his administration had remained focused on policies and projects that directly improved the lives of Rivers residents over the past three years.
Fubara stated that his government prioritised people-centred governance and ensured that public resources served the interests of the people.
According to the governor, the investment in road infrastructure was meant to link rural areas with key commercial cities.
He also added that this would help boost economic activities within the state.
The governor listed some of the ongoing projects to include the Port Harcourt Ring Road, the Trans-Kalabari Highway, the Elele/Umudioga/Egbeda/Ubimini/Ikiri/Omoku Road, and the Ngo-Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road.
According to him, his administration also improved healthcare services, strengthened the education sector and sustained efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security in the state.
Fubara thanked Rivers residents for their support and cooperation, noting that the progress recorded by his administration reflected what could be achieved when government and citizens worked together.
The governor acknowledged that more work still needed to be done and urged community leaders, youths, traders, professionals and other stakeholders to continue supporting the development of the state.
Fubara also congratulated Nigerians on 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule, describing the milestone as evidence of the country’s growing democratic stability.
He said the country’s ability to sustain civilian governance despite political differences demonstrated the collective resolve of Nigerians to protect democracy and national unity.
The Port City News (TCPN) reported that weeks ago Fubara stepped away from the 2027 governorship contest under the All Progressives Congress (APC) amid efforts to ease political tensions in Rivers State.
Despite the political developments, the governor maintained that his administration remained focused on completing ongoing projects and delivering good governance before the end of his tenure.
