Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Abuja residence of the former Governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
The visit followed the former Rivers State Governor lost of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries election to Atiku.
They held extensive discussions on the current state of the nation.
During the meeting, Abubakar and Amaechi engaged in a serious dialogue addressing Nigeria’s pressing national challenges.
They focused their discussion on worsening insecurity, severe economic hardships, and the collective responsibility of patriotic citizens to actively seek solutions to steer the country away from its current difficulties.
Beyond the political and socio-economic discourse, the visit also served as a celebratory occasion, as Abubakar felicitated with Amaechi on his birthday, which occurred the previous day.
The atmosphere featured lighthearted moments, with Abubakar teasing the former minister, a passionate Arsenal fan, about the English football club’s recent historic Premier League title triumph.
The gesture was warmly received in good spirits alongside a promise of a traditional Rivers State “Fisherman Soup” delicacy during their next meeting.
Earlier the Port City News (TCPN) reported that Ariky was declared the winner on Wednesday evening in Abuja in the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel by the party leadership in a formal presentation of the ADC flag to him.
Atiku scored a total of 1,846,370 votes to triumph over the former minister of transportation, Amaechi, who got 504,117 votes, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, the ex-banker, who won 177,120 votes.
Over 2.5 million people voted from a total of over three million registered voters of the party who took part in the voting process.
ADC held the direct primary as attempts to reach an agreement on a consensus candidate failed as the three main aspirants refused to step down.
