A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has announced that they will not be present at today’s presidential election result declaration, citing serious concerns over the credibility of the process.
In a statement issued ahead of the announcement, the politician said they had received multiple reports of irregularities from different parts of the country, alleging that the integrity of the vote had been compromised.
They further noted that some of the incidents raised had come to their attention firsthand, describing the situation as troubling and inconsistent with a free and fair electoral process.
“Given what has been reported and what I have personally witnessed, I cannot in good conscience attend the result announcement at this time,” the statement read in essence.
The candidate added that they were currently consulting with advisers and stakeholders before deciding on their next course of action following the development.
The decision adds tension to an already closely watched election outcome, as stakeholders await the official declaration amid growing political uncertainty.
