Port Harcourt-based entertainer and traditional onunu maker, Belema Nelson Onikio, known as Onunuboy, has officially announced his intention to run for a seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the Okrika Constituency.
Onikio, a proud son of Igbiri-Ama in Okrika Local Government Area, shared his vision for better representation and development for the people of the constituency during his announcement.
He explained that his decision to enter the race comes from a long-held desire to see the people of Okrika benefit from effective and quality representation that truly delivers on governance for every community.
Onikio pointed out that while change is essential, real transformation can only happen when dedicated individuals step up with vision, courage, and a genuine willingness to serve.
He believes that Okrika can achieve more progress with the right leadership, strategic thinking, and quality service. He added that his goal is to help build a better future for the constituency.
The entertainer also highlighted key areas he plans to focus on if elected. These include strengthening the creative and business economy, promoting sports development, preserving and showcasing the community’s rich cultural heritage, empowering young people with opportunities for growth and success, and advancing technological development in the constituency.
Onikio described his ambition as a collective mission. He stated that his decision to run is for every child, youth, man, and woman in Okrika, emphasizing that now is the time for the constituency to seek greater progress for the benefit of all its people.
