According to the recent report, it has been claimed that Nigeria has proceeded to become a leading digital economy, through the launching of AI driven infrastructure initiative by NITDA in collaboration with the International Data Centre Authority (IDCA).
It has been stated that the goal of this project is to create digital hubs all around Nigeria, these hubs will help make Nigeria’s digital infrastructure stronger attract investments and make Nigeria a strong competitor in the global digital economy.
Hadiza Umar, who is in charge of communications at NITDA said that this partnership is a step towards creating a digital ecosystem that works well together.
The project is based on Nigeria’s cloud initiative and will bring together infrastructure, regulations, talent development and investments into one plan.
These digital hubs will be very important for businesses and governments. It will as well provide cloud services, host data and support digital solutions.
NITDA says that this project will attract investments from inside and outside Nigeria. It will also help Nigeria’s economy grow in the term through technology.
The project is built around four ideas: a plan for Nigeria’s digital economy building big infrastructure through digital hubs using global digital standards and creating a framework for education and workforce development.
Kashifu Inuwa, who is the Director-General of NITDA said that this project is a moment for Nigeria’s digital transformation.
It shows that the government is committed to controlling its data and growing through innovation. He also said that working with IDCA and other groups will help strengthen infrastructure create talent adopt AI, support entrepreneurship and make the economy grow in a way that includes everyone.
Mehdi Paryavi, who is the Chairman of IDCA said that Nigeria has the potential to become a leader, in Africa’s landscape because of its big economy and population.
