The former Nigerian international sensational, Sunday Oliseh has urged the Nigeria Premier Football League clubs to take care of their players and pay them well, stating that one of the reasons good players leave the country is because they do not get paid enough.
While in an interview session at the Brila FM Sunday Oliseh said that people should not be angry with players who go to countries to play football because they want to get paid. Many clubs in Nigeria do not pay their players on time, and that is not fair.
The forner Borussia Dortmund and Juventus Midfielder says that football is a job and players need to get paid so they can take care of their families and plan for the future. “football is what players use to pay their bills and feed their families and plan for the future”.
He also said that even if the money is not a lot it’s better if it comes on time. Oliseh recalled that when he was playing football he did not get a lot of money because the money comes in at month end. He said “when we were playing they never owed us money for one month. The money was small, it comes every month”.
He wants the clubs in Nigeria to make things better for the players so they can stay and play in the country, this is because many players in the Nigeria Premier Football League are not getting paid and are not treated well. This is a problem, for Nigerian football and many young players are leaving to play in other countries.
