Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited formerly Shell Petroleum Development Company, has made a one-off Goodwill grant with Aleto Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State to implement six Community Development projects in the area.
The moves was as a result of the 2023 oil spill incident at Aleto clan which occurred during operations by the company.
The six projects include
Construction of a 12-classroom facility in Agbonchia, an ultra-modern 200-capacity community town hall in Akpajo, School upgrades, ICT installations, and backup power systems in Aleto.
Others are De-silting of drainage channels and flood control works in Aleto and Electricity upgrades as well as installation of prepaid energy meters in Aleto and Okerewa
Speaking during the commissioning of a12-classroom facility in Agbonchia Eleme , the chairman, Education committee, Dr. Aforji Igwe commended Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited for listening to the demands of the host communities.
Dr. Igwe also assured the company of support from the host communities
The king of Eleme land , Oneh-Eleme, his royal majesty Dr. Phillip Obele advised benefitted communities to judiciously protect the projects.
Responding, the vice president ,relations and sustainable development Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited Dr. Igo weli said the event is a clear testament of the power of dialogue over violence and bickering.
Four of the six projects have been completed while two electrification projects are at different stages of implementation.
