A vote of confidence has been passed on the Chairman of Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Uchechukwu Obasi, by the LG Legislative Council.
Leader of the council, Rt. Hon. Ruth Chika Nweke, who spoke on behalf of members on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, passed the confidence vote.
She revealed that the vote of confidence was following the chairman’s commitment to transparency, democratic norms and strategic collaboration.
Nweke urged the Omuma LG chair to intensify efforts in the delivery of quality projects and services to the people of the local government.
She also demanded the prioritisation of empowerment programmes, education, healthcare deliveries, infrastructure and agriculture.
The council leader explained that the chairman, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, presented the year’s appropriation bill, christened the Budget of Renewed Hope 2026.

Also, she revealed that the appropriation bill had been transmitted to the committee of the house for further scrutiny.
Her words, “the Omuma Legislative Council, under my leadership, received the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Uchechukwu Obasi (JP), who presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill, christened: budget of renewed hope 2026.
“The Appropriation Bill was thereafter transmitted to the committee of the whole for further scrutiny.
“We commend the Chairman’s commitment to transparency, democratic norms and strategic collaboration.”
Further, Nweke reaffirmed the council’s commitment to supporting the chairman in implementing the budget, and ensuring that every Kobo was optimised for Omuma’s LGA development.
“In recognition of his efforts, we passed a vote of confidence on him, urging him to intensify efforts in delivering quality projects and services, prioritising empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture.
“We reaffirm our commitment to supporting the Executive Chairman in implementing this budget, ensuring every naira is optimised for Omuma LGA’s development.”
