Group Applauds Tinubu’s Intervention in Rivers Political Crisis

A women’s group in Rivers State, Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for fostering peace in the state following the recent reconciliation with Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In a statement issued on Monday in Port Harcourt by the group’s convener, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby Fulton, the women expressed appreciation for what they described as the President’s fatherly role and timely intervention in resolving the protracted political crisis that had generated tension across the state.

According to the group, President Tinubu’s intervention helped to “prove naysayers wrong” and restore Rivers State to the path of peace, stability, and renewed economic prosperity.

They noted that the reconciliation has rekindled hope among residents and the business community, who had been concerned about the impact of the political impasse on governance and development.

“The effort of our dear President in brokering this fresh peace is commendable. We deeply appreciate President Tinubu for setting the tone for our political leaders to graciously accept to work together and embrace sustained peace for the good of our dear Rivers State,” the statement read.

RWUS also congratulated the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on the conduct of recent council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, applauding his leadership style and efforts in transforming the landscape of the FCT. The group urged all stakeholders to prioritise unity and development above personal interests.
