Tanker crushes 4 in Port Harcourt

At least 4 persons were crushed to death with many more injured on Saturday, Aug 4th at Rumuapara along East-West Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area by a petrol tanker.

Theportcitynews gathered that the tanker was headed to the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited located at Eleme when it rammed into a group of persons drinking in a bar.

The driver, according to witnesses, lost control of the vehicle, after a brake failure, dragging a parked Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) within the Rumuapara junction.

It also destroyed the building before crushing the four victims with many persons also injured.

Policemen from the nearby Rumuokoro Divisional Police Headquarters, Port Harcourt removed the bodies of the victims after arresting the tanker driver.
Attempts to get the PPRO of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, to comment on the matter was not successful as he declined his phone calls.
