NYCN Chairman Condems Killing OF Youth President

The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Rivers State Chapter, Hon. Amb. Ambrose Sopuruchukwu Okpor, has issued stern and unequivocal condemnation following the recent wave of senseless violence in Omoku, the headquarters of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA).

The Council is deeply saddened and outraged by the reported killings of innocent citizens and the gestapo-style killing of the Omoku Youth President, Comr. Ifeanyi Azuazu, by unidentified gunmen.

NYCN Rivers State Chapter, Hon. Ejukwu Gospel Dennis, the Chairman, NYCN Rivers State Chapter.Amb. Ambrose Sopuruchukwu Okpor described these acts as not only heinous and unconscionable but as a direct assault on the youth leadership structure of Rivers State.

He said that the targeted kidnapping and killing of a youth leader who serves as a vital bridge between the grassroots and the government is a calculated attempt to instill fear and destabilize the hard earned peace in the ONELGA axis.

“The bloodletting in Omoku must stop. We cannot afford to return to the dark days of insecurity. The killing of Comr. Ifeanyi Azuazu is a red line that has been crossed. The perpetrators must understand that an injury to one youth leader is an injury to the entire youth population of Rivers State,” Amb. Okpor declared.

The NYCN Rivers State Chapter shares in the deep grief and justified anger of the Omoku people, Amb. Ambrose Okpor strongly appeals to the youths of ONELGA to remain calm and law-abiding. He urges the youth to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, as the Council is actively engaging with the State Government and high-ranking security chiefs to resolve this crisis and ensure a swift rescue.

The NYCN Rivers State Chapter stands in unwavering solidarity with the families of the deceased during this trying time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
We call on the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to act with clinical precision to flush out these criminal elements and restore absolute normalcy to Omoku.
