Full Details Revealed As Rivers Monarch Gets Shot

HRM. King Dr. Suanu T.Y. Baridam, The Paramount Ruler (Gbenemene) of Bangha Kingdom in Khana LGA, Rivers State, JP, has reportedly been shot by unknown assailants on the 25th of January 2026.

The incident occurred under circumstances that are yet to be fully disclosed and he was immediately rushed for medical attention according to reports.

He is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility as residents of the community prays for a speedy recovery for the King.

Some comments from netizens shows that this is not the first time, the King has been attacked and calls for security. With the repetition of attacks, this goes further to tell more about the increase of insecurity in the Southern part of Nigeria which has become a constant bother.

The news also got some netizens asking some questions like “who is after the king”? “Who has he wronged”? While these questions may remain unanswered, it is important that the king is careful and security operatives perform their role to ensure safety in the community.

Until the assassins are brought to book and their motives revealed, a cloud of insecurity will still linger, reminding everyone that if there is no safety for a traditional ruler, then no one in the community is safe.

Security agencies have started some investigations to know the culprits behind the attack. The attack on a traditional ruler shows that there is no regard for law and order in the community, it might also be related to local disputes.
