Police arrest man for attacking gay couple with broken bottle in Port Harcourt

A man was arrested in Borokiri area of Port Harcourt for attacking two men said to be gay couple holding hands.

Odion, 33 was arrested by the police for attacking both men with a broken bottle on Thursday.

According to witnesses, Odion was alleged to have yelled homophobic slurs at the couple when he saw them walking past.

The couple attempted to keep walking but Odion persisted and an altercation began.

Eyewitnesses say Odion spat in the face of one of the men before a scuffle in which he is alleged to have stabbed the victim with a broken glass bottle.

The fight was broken up by a police officer, who found the victim with cuts to his face and body.
