Bayelsa Will See Greater Infrastructure Impact in 2026 — Diri

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has reiterated his administration’s renewed commitment to infrastructural development across the state’s eight local government areas.

In a statewide address on Thursday, Diri said 2026 would bring greater impact to the people through new initiatives and the completion of several ongoing projects.

He explained that with the 2026 Budget of Assured Prosperity II, which he had signed into law, his administration would press ahead with strategic infrastructure rollout and the expansion of essential education and health facilities.

According to the governor, key projects include Nembe–Brass Phase I; the first phase of the Ekeremor–Agge Road, terminating at Toru-Ndoro with a spur to Peretorugbene; as well as the Akaba–Ogu–Okodi, Oporoma–Ondewari, Angiama–Eniwari–Fonibiri, Toru-Ebeni–Akeddei–Bolu-Orua–Toru-Orua, and Agbere-Abuetor-Osekwenike-Asamabiri-Elemebiri roads. He described the roads as vital arteries for progress, connectivity, and dignity across Bayelsa.

Diri urged Bayelsans to hold firmly to the promise of 2 Thessalonians 3:3, as rendered in the King James Version, as they journeyed into the new year.

He noted that although flesh may falter and hearts may ache, citizens should remember that God remains the strength of their hearts.

The governor added that while God does not promise immunity from pain, He promises to walk with the state through challenges, heal wounds, and lift it when it falls.

“As we step into 2026, we once again lay Bayelsa State — its governance, its peace, and its great works — at the feet of the Almighty. This is no empty tradition but a solemn and heartfelt surrender. We acknowledge that every road built, every budget passed, and every triumph won rests not on our strength, but on His sovereign grace,” he said.

Quoting the state’s covenant verse for 2026, Diri added: “‘But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.’ God’s power shines brightest in our weakness, and His love is most radiant when our light seems dimmest.”

The governor also paid tribute to the late Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing his steadfast support, quiet wisdom, and unshakeable strength as having left an indelible mark on the Government of Assured Prosperity and on their lives.
