DeeOne Reveals Surprising Romantic Past with Veekee James

The drama kicked off when celebrity fashion designer Veekee James, during a recent podcast appearance, didn’t exactly mince words about the comedian. Labeling him an “unserious” fellow, she suggested that taking him seriously might indicate a serious lack of occupation.

But DeeOne, never one to let a comment slide without a response, fired back. In a video posted to his Instagram, the comedian didn’t just address the jab—he flipped the script entirely.

According to DeeOne, their history runs a lot deeper. He unveiled that he and Veekee James (whose real name is Ruth) once shared a romantic connection shortly after his Big Brother Naija stint in 2018.

“This one na blast from the past,” he said, suggesting the designer’ recent remarks might be stemming from unresolved history. With a video captioned, “Ruth, you never still move on from this our matter,” DeeOne claimed the high road, stating simply, “I had moved on.”

The comedian painted a picture of a sweet but ultimately stifling past fling. “Correct babe oo, sweet, she’s good. That’s the truth of the matter,” he admitted, before explaining his reason for stepping back. He described feeling overwhelmed by requests. “She fit dey sewing like this and said help me do this, please can you buy this for me… Na boyfriend I be, I no be house help.”

DeeOne was quick to dismiss any notion of bad blood, extending well-wishes to Veekee James and her husband, Mr. Femi James—whom he noted is aware of their past.

“My people, don’t take all this thing personal,” he advised. “E get things for the entertainment industry that you people don’t know about.”
