Veteran Actress Hilda Dokubo Re-elected As Chairperson LP in Rivers State

The Rivers State chapter of the Labour Party has successfully concluded a series of democratic congresses, culminating in the unanimous re-election of Dr. Hilda Dokubo as its State Chairman.

The party’s structured electoral process, adhering to its national timetable, saw coordinated congresses at the Ward, Local Government, and State levels. The final state congress in Port Harcourt witnessed Dr. Dokubo affirmed without opposition, a move seen as a strong endorsement of her leadership by members across all 23 Local Government Areas.

The proceedings were marked by a peaceful and transparent atmosphere, overseen by over 130 accredited state delegates. The exercise enjoyed full statutory monitoring from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), along with official observers from the Labour Party’s National Working Committee and security agencies, ensuring strict adherence to due process.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Dokubo thanked the party’s leadership and membership for their renewed trust. “I am profoundly honoured by this vote of confidence. This mandate is a call to service, commitment, and unity,” she stated. “Together, we will continue building a Labour Party in Rivers State that is strong, credible, and deeply connected to the aspirations of our people.”

She pledged to continue her focus on strengthening internal party frameworks, boosting grassroots engagement, and promoting the party’s core principles of transparency, justice, and governance that responds to the people.

The Labour Party in Rivers State expressed its appreciation to all delegates, observers, and security personnel who contributed to the orderly conduct of the congresses, reaffirming its commitment to upholding internal democracy and fostering inclusive leadership.
