Rivers United Fail To Drown Abia Warriors

The Nigerian Premier League defending champions Remo Stars claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Enyimba in a pulsating Matchday 16 clash in Abeokuta on Sunday.

‎Of course the likes of Victor Mbaoma was captured as the hero for the Sky Blue Stars, scoring both goals against his former club. The score-sheets have it that he opened the scoring in the third minute before Enyimba’s Edidiong Ezekiel restored parity in the 32nd minute.

‎The Remo sensational, however, sealed the win for Remo Stars with a clinical finish just before half-time. In Umuahia, Abia Warriors was held by the former NPFL champions Rivers United to a dramatic 1-1 draw.

‎Biokpo was also captured on the matchday 16 score-sheets where he gave Rivers United the lead late in the game, but Suraj Lawal rescued a point for the hosts with a stoppage-time equaliser.

‎Again, Kano Pillars secured a 2-1 win over Kun Khalifat at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, thanks to a brace from Rabiu Ali. Ebuka Nwokorie scored the lone goal for the visitors.

‎It is also reported that the biggest win of the matchday 16 goes to Rangers International as they were found hammering Bayelsa United 4-1. Chidozie Iwundu scored twice, while Kenechukwu Agu and Chimobi Igwilo also found the net. Issah Yusuf scored Bayelsa United’s consolation.

‎Wikki Tourists and Ikorodu City also played out a goalless draw in Bauchi, while El-Kanemi Warriors and Barau FC also shared the spoils in a 0-0 stalemate in Maiduguri.

‎Kwara United also cruised to a 2-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Ilorin, with Babatunde Bright and Seun Ogunribide getting the goals.
