Applications Open For FG’s National Health Fellows Programme

The Federal Government has opened applications for the next batch of the National Health Fellows (NHF) Programme, calling on qualified young Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to support the country’s primary healthcare system.

In a statement released Tuesday, the government said the programme was created to address long-standing gaps in healthcare delivery by equipping young professionals with the skills needed to strengthen community-level interventions. Supported by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the initiative targets Nigerians aged 25 to 35 with academic backgrounds in health sciences, social sciences, and related fields.

Successful candidates will receive intensive training, mentorship, and field placements across all 774 local government areas. Through these deployments, fellows will help drive better health outcomes and promote healthier communities while contributing to a more resilient primary healthcare workforce.

Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, described the programme as a transformative platform aimed at nurturing the next generation of healthcare leaders through capacity building, professional growth, and hands-on experience.

With the deadline approaching, the NHF Programme is urging eligible applicants to apply via its official website on or before 30 November 2025.
