Coach Daniel Ogunmodede and Falconets coach Moses Aduku are among the participants concluding the historic CAF B-License Coaching Course taking place in Abuja.
The leadership of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, has received ongoing applause for reviving the Confederation of African Football (CAF) B-License Coaching Course.
This initiative marks a significant advancement in enhancing the technical capacity of Nigerian football, being the first of its kind in eight years within the country.
The current program, hosted at Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, has gathered 25 coaches from various regions of the nation in a well-structured and resourceful educational setting.
Notable participants include former Super Eagles star Duke Udi, Felix Nwosu from Enugu Rangers, Phinan Ozonweke, and Igwe Erem from Abia Warriors.
One participant, reflecting on the importance of the course, praised the NFF President, stating:
“We are grateful for President Gusau’s leadership that emphasizes coaching education. We are receiving not only coaching education but also high-quality education. I extend my gratitude to our facilitators for their dedication to providing us with the best.”
He further noted that the lack of such advanced coaching programs in recent years has impeded professional development and restricted opportunities for local coaches.
The absence of consistent and structured coaching education has historically had a detrimental effect on the development of football in Nigeria.
Without adequately trained coaches, grassroots talents find it challenging to hone their skills effectively, leading to technical shortcomings that impact the performance of clubs and the national team at higher levels.

Consequently, the renewed focus on capacity building is anticipated to close this gap and enhance the quality of the Nigerian game.
The CAF B-License course is part of a larger initiative by the current NFF administration aimed at revitalizing coaching education.
Earlier this year, the NFF, under the leadership of Gusau, revived the CAF C-License course for 30 female coaches, along with the CAF Instructors Course, which has made a return to Nigeria after many decades.
The current course is being organized by the NFF Technical Committee, headed by Technical Director Austin Eguavoen, and features resource persons such as Dr. Terry Eguejio, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, Ambassador Henry Abiodun, Dr. Robinson Okosun, Mohammed Ameenu, and Emeka Amadi, among others.
The program is set to conclude in November, with the fourth and final module scheduled for 3rd November in Abuja, where the coaches will receive their official certification as CAF – B coaches.
