FRSC

In a renewed effort to uphold road safety and enforce traffic laws, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Rivers State held a mobile court session on Thursday, September 25, 2025, resulting in the conviction of 36 individuals for various traffic offences.

The session, led by His Worship Lilian M. Awuse (ESQ), addressed a range of violations, including attempted bribery of road marshals, overloading, and issues related to driver’s licences. Offenders received penalties ranging from fines to compulsory safety education.

Among those convicted, 11 individuals who tried to bribe FRSC operatives were each fined ₦10,000. Similarly, 9 offenders were penalised ₦10,000 each for overloading their vehicles. Driver’s licence violations attracted fines totalling ₦80,000.

Additional violations included failure to wear seat belts, faulty vehicle lighting, missing caution signs, use of worn tyres, cracked windscreens, lack of passenger manifests, and non-installation of speed limiters. One individual was cautioned and discharged after receiving proper safety education.

FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Inyang E. Umoh, emphasised the significance of the mobile court exercise in maintaining order on the roads.

“This enforcement drive underscores our commitment to ensuring safety and compliance. Road users must understand that violating traffic rules has serious consequences,” he said.

He warned that the agency will not relent in its mission to reduce traffic crashes by clamping down on reckless behaviour.
