Former Senate Majority Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, has appealed to the executive and legislative arms of government in Rivers State to prevent a resurgence of political crisis in the state.
Senator Ndumele who spoke to our Correspondent at the sidelines of the just-concluded 2nd 2025 ECOWAS Parliamentary Seminar in Port Harcourt, urged the Rivers House of Assembly and Governor Siminalayi Fubara to work in unity for the benefit of the people.
“Democracy exists on three arms of government independent but interdependently. Executive, judiciary and legislator, they exist as an institution to make democracy work.”
“Let’s move forward, that is what a leader is supposed to do, I hope that everybody will now concentrate on making sure that democracy is sustained.”
While commending Governor Fubara for maintaining a peaceful disposition throughout the period of the emergency rule, Senator Ndume appreciated the maturity the governor exhibited during the state of emergency declaration which led to the emergency to be terminated.

He explained that Rivers State has enough resources to cater for its citizens and called for utilization of funds for the betterment of the people.

The Senator, who emphasized that Rivers State is important to the country, advised all hands must be on deck to ensure that the state excels in this democratic dispensation and ensuring that it should not be allowed to snowball into crisis.
