‎’Its Semimembranosus’- Besiktas Confirm Ndidi Injury Setback

Besiktas and Nigerian international Sensational midfielder Wilfred Ndidi may be sidelined for a period following a thigh injury incurred while representing his national team.

‎The club recently confirmed the injury on their official website yesterday, indicating that the former Leicester City midfield ‘wall’ Wilfred Ndidi was hurt during Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against South Africa on Tuesday evening.

‎The former KRC Genk player was replaced in the second half by Christantus Uche. “Our player, Wilfred Ndidi, who was unable to participate due to an injury sustained during the Nigerian national team’s match against South Africa, has returned to Turkey,” stated a message on the club’s official website.

‎An assessment and MRI conducted at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital showed a strain and bleeding in the posterior thigh muscle (semimembranosus).

‎Our medical staff has initiated treatment for our player.” The 28-year-old is now anticipated to be absent for Besiktas’ league match against Istanbul Başakşehir on Saturday.

‎Ndidi transferred to the Black Eagles from Sky Bet Championship club Leicester City in July on a three-year deal and has participated in two league matches for the 16-time Turkish Super Lig champions.

‎Ndidi is the second player from the Super Eagles to incur an injury during the September international break, following Victor Osimhen, who sustained an ankle injury in the match against Rwanda, which subsequently excluded him from participating in the game against South Africa.

‎Last Saturday, Ndidi led the Super Eagles to a 1-0 win over Rwanda, and he has been an essential player for the team since his debut in 2015 against DR Congo.

‎He has accumulated 66 caps for Nigeria; however, he has not yet scored his first goal for the Super Eagles.
