Replace Stolen Manholes, Stakeholder to LG Chairman In Rivers

Worried by the danger it poses to both pedestrians and vehicular movement, Elder Blessing Jackson Tiko has called on the Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Allwell Ihunda, to urgently address the issue of stolen manholes in the city.

Tiko, who is a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, emphasised that it poses a serious safety risk to both pedestrians and motorists.

He urged the LG chair to treat the immediate replacement of the stolen manholes as a top priority.

Tiko made this appeal in a statement on Wednesday, September 10, where he also congratulated the council chairmen of Port Harcourt City local government area, Hon Allwell Ihunda and that of the Andoni Local Government area, Hon Prince Promise Otuo, for emerging victorious at the recently concluded local council election.

He expressed the belief that, “as experienced leaders who have been tested and trusted, they would no doubt leave worthy legacies with their mandate

“It is important they leave worthy legacies, especially in the areas of human capital development, as the people are dying of hunger and hardship daily”.

Further, has urged members of the 11th Legislative Assembly across the council areas to collaborate effectively with the executive arm to deliver meaningful development to their communities.

The PDP stalwart encouraged councillors to regularly engage with their constituents to understand their specific needs and present those concerns to the appropriate authorities.

Speaking on the alliance between the PDP and the APC, Tiko described the partnership as a positive development.

He noted that the collaboration has helped reduce political tension and electoral violence, creating a more stable political environment.

Tiko further expressed support for the alliance, stating that it could play a key role in mobilising public backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid, which, according to him, would allow Tinubu’s administration to build on ongoing economic reforms.

He urged political supporters to embrace the alliance, alleging that the initiative holds long-term benefits for the state.
