The Federal Government has commended the Council of Former Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS) for its efforts in strengthening governance and improving public sector efficiency.
The commendation was made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, during a courtesy visit by the CORFEPS delegation, led by its National Chairman, Mahmud Ahmed on Thursday.
Akume acknowledged that CORFEPS has submitted several advisory documents to President Bola Tinubu on key economic issues.
He assured the council that the President, as a “listening leader,” would give due consideration to their suggestions and recommendations.
The SGF also pledged that the current administration would leverage the members’ extensive experience in nation-building, praising them for their meritorious service.
Yayale Ahmed reaffirmed CORFEPS’ readiness to support the government through its advisory capacity, aimed at improving public service delivery. He confirmed that the council had presented three key advisory documents to Tinubu.

Additionally, Yayale mentioned that the council has submitted an advisory document on tax reform to the National Assembly for its consideration.
The SGF’s remarks underscore the government’s recognition of the former permanent secretaries as a valuable resource for policy guidance and administrative reform.
