Tosin Demehin has extended her stay with Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray Women after a standout first season, further establishing herself as one of Nigeria’s leading defenders.
Tosin, who is 23, moved to Istanbul in the summer of 2024 after playing for the French club Stade de Reims.
In her first season, she played in 26 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal and helping Galatasaray keep their defense solid and strong.
Her efforts were key in helping the club finish fourth in the Turkish Women’s Super League and also earned them a spot in the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in their history.
Tosin’s rise highlights the progress being made in Nigerian women’s football. Recently, she was part of the Super Falcons team that won their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.

This was her first big tournament, but she stayed calm and confident, playing in every match and standing at the heart of the defense with experienced player Osinachi Ohale as Nigeria reached the final.
Tosin also made history by scoring her first international goal during the Falcons’ 5-0 win over Zambia in the quarter-finals.
As Galatasaray gets ready for the 2025/26 season, they will count on Tosin’s calmness, ability in the air, and smart play to help them do well both in Turkey and in Europe.
